Gay Abandon is a group of about 60 lesbians, gay men and bisexuals in the Leeds (UK) area who enjoy singing together.
Gay abandon started in 1997 as the love-child of Jane Edwardson (currently our musical director) and David Burnett and since then we've gone from strength to strength.
Our first concert - when we were all very nervous - was back in 1998 at the Clothworkers' Hall at Leeds University. Since then, we've performed more and more often, and travelled further afield, including concerts in Manchester, Birmingham, London, Berlin and Paris. We still get nervous!
As well as big concerts, we've performed at various festivals and events.
Although our performances are a focus for our repertoire and rehearsals, they're not the be all and end all. Some members choose not to perform - and few of us make every performance.
The real joy of being in the choir is the friendly atmosphere and camaraderie built around our common joy of singing.

And if you want to be part of it all, but don't want to sing, we always need help setting up concerts, selling tickets, organising the front of house etc. Our FLOGAs (Friends and Lovers of Gay Abandon) welcome new members too.
